Piss me off today at Jusco Express Counter. I mean, the counter says 8 items and below. And a couple with a cart of more than 8 iterms get to pay at the express counter. So where is the logic? I enquired to the casher and she says 8 items. Where is the logic then? Express counter s
upposed to facilitates the customers who buy small amount of items and therefore do not have to queue for a long time. The casher is scared to piss the customer but she piss me and the rest of 6 customers at the back of the line off. For me, Jusco management is cynical. Why put up an Express counter if you can't even enforce the rule? Jusco logo "My Kind of Store" is definitely not mine now. Maybe Jusco Malaysia should train its staff better, to serve its customers fairly for every customers has his rights. Jusco should emulate Tesco's counter policy "We will make sure there will not be 2 cart in front of you"
Tesco Extra Prai was the latest hypermarket addition in Seberang Prai Penang sited in Taman Sembilang (formerly the Macro hypermarket site). It has ample parking space for cars making it a condusive place to go. Even though not all things are cheap, some of its generic brands are priced reasonably low.
One of them is the Strawberry Conserve Jam produced in Belgium for Tesco Stores Ltd priced at RM8.30.
I bought a bottle last Sunday 5 May 2009 and to my dismay I found that there is a patch of fungus growing in the bottle when I open it on Monday.
My advice to Malaysian consumers is always keep the receipt from Tesco and always open up the bottle as soon as possible.
Iam going to get a refund (which means that I had the inconvenience of making another trip) from Tesco.
We will see later.
My favorite dinner place is the Restoran Sri Kijang at the junction of Jalan Taman Sri Kijang-Jln Rozhan. For RM29, one can get dishes like chicken kompo-fried, belacan-fried kangkung, stirfried kailan vegetable and hotplate taufu for 4 persons. The kompo-fried chicken is nice and tasty, so too is the belacan-fried kangkung although it is fried a little bit too spicy today. The dishes are delicious and filling even though they are cheap.
We tried Nando's in Auto City Penang. This is Chinese New Year 2nd day so every where is packed except Nando's. So, we don't expect much from this place. The food is a bit pricey. A quarter chicken with two side line dishes costs 13.80 excluding taxes but the drinks are expensive. A coke for RM5.30 which you can get it half the price at MacDonald's. So we decided to forgo the drinks. I got a shock for my sideline dish. I order a Peri corn (which is priced at RM3.80) and had a half ear corn (roasted). I could get a full ear buttered corn for half that price in any supermarkets in BM so if you are ordering any side line dishes, remember never order the corn. Kenny Rogers served better side dishes.
What do you expect an non-packed eatery on a full crowd day.
Old Town Cafe at Maju Utama BM - I was expecting a higher class cafe for a cup of coffee in this rural town. Unfortunately the first that irk me is that there is no non-smoking area for non-smoker like me. And in BM that will be terrible as this place looks like a hangout for not so classy customers (I would not recommend you bring your virgin daughter to dine there, it is not safe). Service is lousy just like normal kopitiam (which you don't have to pay the service tax). The food, well, we had the white coffee of course but we will rank it only 6 out of 10. Next, the nasi rendang chicken which is horrible for the price so we give it 5 out of 10 (according to a KL cum Pg food critic friend). I found that the nasi lemak in Kopitiam Junction in Sunway Carnival is better. In conclusion, Old Town (Maju Utama) is a lousy place to bring your friends if you expect to dine in a place like Starbuck. I hate this place for its smoke.
My other half and I decided to try the bak kut teh at a shop named Lau San Tong Bak Kut Teh at Jalan Raja Uda in Butterworth. For a meal of two costing about RM14 one can choose the types of pork meat to be served in the soup. I chose pork ribs and "sam chan" for the meat. We do not really go for bak kut teh so honestly I do not think it is fair for me to rank this shop for its meal. But I think the price is reasonable, and we think we could go back again if we want another meal of Bak Kut Teh in the future.
Check out Krisco a new shopping mall in BM. As usual many people decided to take a peep at the new boy in town. Of course we are also looking for the bargains although some got cheated as they wait for hours to finally told that the items had been sold out. It is good for Krisco to provide us BMians with another shopping alternative before the next big one, Jaya Jusco opens at Perda. Wonder whether this cowboy town really had the buying power to sustain these giant supermarkets. Or the surrounding shopowners are going to suffer the fate of the other like supermarkets that opens and close later on in Bukit Mertajam. We'll see.
