Tesco Extra Prai

Tesco Extra Prai was the latest hypermarket addition in Seberang Prai Penang sited in Taman Sembilang (formerly the Macro hypermarket site). It has ample parking space for cars making it a condusive place to go. Even though not all things are cheap, some of its generic brands are priced reasonably low.
One of them is the Strawberry Conserve Jam produced in Belgium for Tesco Stores Ltd priced at RM8.30.
I bought a bottle last Sunday 5 May 2009 and to my dismay I found that there is a patch of fungus growing in the bottle when I open it on Monday.
My advice to Malaysian consumers is always keep the receipt from Tesco and always open up the bottle as soon as possible.
Iam going to get a refund (which means that I had the inconvenience of making another trip) from Tesco.
We will see later.

I try not to buy from multinational hypermarket stores too much and in fact have not visited Tesco for a long, long time!Like many multinational business, they have complex schemes that is designed to reduce their taxes payable to their host country where they operate.Further,in the long term ,the huge hypermarkets squeezed out local sundry shops and reduces competition-this is definitely undesirable.
