Lau San Tong Bak Kut Teh

My other half and I decided to try the bak kut teh at a shop named Lau San Tong Bak Kut Teh at Jalan Raja Uda in Butterworth. For a meal of two costing about RM14 one can choose the types of pork meat to be served in the soup. I chose pork ribs and "sam chan" for the meat. We do not really go for bak kut teh so honestly I do not think it is fair for me to rank this shop for its meal. But I think the price is reasonable, and we think we could go back again if we want another meal of Bak Kut Teh in the future.

Krisco

Check out Krisco a new shopping mall in BM. As usual many people decided to take a peep at the new boy in town. Of course we are also looking for the bargains although some got cheated as they wait for hours to finally told that the items had been sold out. It is good for Krisco to provide us BMians with another shopping alternative before the next big one, Jaya Jusco opens at Perda. Wonder whether this cowboy town really had the buying power to sustain these giant supermarkets. Or the surrounding shopowners are going to suffer the fate of the other like supermarkets that opens and close later on in Bukit Mertajam. We'll see.

Rubbish gone now????

Thank god MPSP decided to take the one-week old rubbish away yesterday. They probably smell the stink under their armpit. Or maybe they decided that it is paying month for the residents. What ever it is, MPSP still stinks. I just wonder whether rubbish will be collected next week. Bet you that it will only be collected on the 28th Jan. Well, I keep on blogging about MPSP rubbish.

Rubbish still there

Looks like rubbish is the next highly regarded CNY decoration for this year. Courtesy of Seberang Perai Municipal Council (MPSP) to the residents of Taman Seri Impian Fasa 2. Probably this Chinese New Year is the Rat Year. What a shame for MPSP. It is now 8 days since the rubbish in this taman had been collected. What a shame.

Rubbish in Bukit Mertajam.

These two pictures are taken in Taman Seri Impian 2, Taman Seri Impian, Alma. This new housing estate is experiencing the scrooge of MPSP who seems to be interested in collecting the yearly assessment tax but not preforming its basic duty.

Residents here are fed up with the Seberang Perai Municipal Council as numerous calls and letters were sent to this local government are met with polite acknowledgement and empty promises.
Ironically the website of MPSP (http://www.mpsp.gov.my/english/services/serv1.html) state that waste collection schedule for House-to-house collection is 3 times a week but it looks like this is not done here. A matter of fact these pictures shows that the rubbish is collected once in a week.

Residents have noted that stray dogs and cats had increased in number since MPSP decided to do them a favour. Probably it is more profitable to later shoot them than to collect the rubbish.

I consider it a disgrace. MPSP could even do its basic job probably. A mockery of the claim of being awarded ISO9001:2000. What a waste of taxpayers' money. To rub salt to the wound, MPSP claims that its vision is be a clean and beautiful place to live..... What a joke.

A request for MP for Machang Bubok, please take a look.

Happy New Year 2008

New Year and new resolutions. This is one of mine to create a blog so that I can log in what I thought about Bukit Mertajam, a small town in the state of Penang. Since living here for the past five years, I had found that BM (short for bukit mertajam) is a lovely place to live and work. However, due to its isolation from the nearby bigger towns like Butterworth and Georgetown, BM seems to be neglected by Penangites. I hope to log my thoughts on this small town I called my home and hopefully this blog will serve as a reminder to me on the days of my live in this town
